Every Friday and Saturday from 4 pm till 10pm a food extravaganza springs to life under colourful fairy lit alleyways of shipping containers. Set on a disused container yard at Hamilton Wharf , EAT STREET MARKETS is a wonderment of the senses from international cuisine created by ‘invitation only’ local chefs, to boutique beers and cocktails to delicious hand – made ice cream. More than 80 containers have been reconfigured as mini restaurants, bars, galleries and small shops selling designer products. There are lots to see and do at Eat Street.
We tried the Hungarian pancake with Feta , bacon and herbs….yummy, big enough for 2 people to share. Then we tried the famous Eat Street ‘Cronut ice cream’ No words can describe this work of art even the 300 calories didn’t make me feel guilty. The potato slinky filled a gap , great for kids too as it’s easy to hold and you don’t burn your fingers. Everything is cooked on site and the aromas filling the air were amazing, you definitely need to go there hungry.
Local musicians can showcase their talent on the performance stage with plenty of seating for everyone to eat, drink and enjoy the performances. A great place to go on the weekend, the atmosphere and vibe is so good you can’t help smiling the whole time.
With lots of parking, toilets and baby changing facilities and a great open space at the back of the market for family picnics, there really is something for everyone.
Note: free parking, and 2.50$ entry fee per person.
